Holy Orders

And to some, his gift was that they should be apostles; to some, prophets; to some evangelists; to some, pastors and teachers … in the work of service, build up the body of Christ.Ephesians 4:11-12

The unique ministry of the Apostles is continued in our day by those within the church called by God to Holy Orders—bishops, priests, and deacons.

These men, having received the sacrament by the laying on of hands by a successor to the Apostles, the Bishop, serve the People of God in a variety of ways, primarily through the preaching of the Word, serving as pastors to the Lord's own flock, and through the administration of the sacraments. To discern whether you are called to ordained ministry you may either speak to one of the parish clergy or contact the Vocations Director of the Diocese directly.
