Our annual rummage sale event is not only community building but it is also one of our largest parish outreach activities. People of all ages work together to put on our parish Rummage sale, and work for the good of our parish community, the wider community and the many charities we support. The income that we generate at the rummage sale is used to fund a variety of parish life and outreach activities. Participating in the Rummage Sale is a great way to make friends in the community while helping to serve the needy.
Working with referrals from St. Vincent de Paul and other agencies, identified families in need are able to select clothing and household items at no cost. The rummage sale is advertised locally and all are welcome to come, browse and purchase from a large selection of gently used treasures! After the close of the rummage sale, items are packed and given away to charities such as:
- Operation Christmas Child
- Good Samaritan Program (books for schools in the Philippines)
- Community Pregnancy Center
- Medical Mission Sisters
- Support Network for Battered Women
- Salvation Army
- Silicon Valley African Productions
- Catholic Charities
- Poor Clare Monastery
- Mountain View Parents Nursery School
- St. Francis Center in Redwood City
- Ecumenical Hunger Program
- Day Workers Center
- St. Simon School, library, classrooms, extended care, and preschool
The Rummage Sale normally takes place the last weekend of September, and we begin to collect sale items in late August. Be sure to look for announcements about the Rummage Sale, and plan to come and join this wonderful parish event.
